Getting around

French Polynesia: as large as Europe
Tahiti and her islands span 4 million km² of ocean and cover an area as large as Europe. The land consists of 118 islands grouped into 5 different archipelagoes: the Society Islands, where the majority of the population lives, the Tuamotu, the Marquesas, the Austral Islands and the Gambier. Inter-island transportation is thus mainly done by plane, though some islands are connected by shuttle boats.

The maximum luggage allowance on class "Y" is 20kg per passenger connecting from an international flight, with an additional 5kg for scuba divers. Airfares are also available on class "Z", which allows 50kg per passenger.

For charter flights, Air Archipels operates a fleet of Beeechcraft Super King B200's equipped with 7 VIP seats providing stylish and high-comfort transportation.

Boat transportation
Ferry boats and catamarans cross between Tahiti and Moorea several times a day. Crossing time from wharf to wharf is approximately 30 minutes.
